When the Journey Becomes Hard

Because becoming who God called you to be doesn’t mean the road will always be easy.

There comes a point in every journey when excitement begins to fade, motivation becomes harder to find, and the weight of everyday life starts to feel heavier than the dream itself.

I have reached those moments.

Moments when I question whether I have enough strength, enough time, or even enough of myself left to continue pursuing the things I once dreamed about so passionately.

What happens when the journey you prayed for becomes the very journey that tests your faith?

For me, the road to becoming an attorney has never been just about earning a law degree or adding a title behind my name. It has always been about purpose, perseverance, and proving to myself that it’s never too late to become the woman God created me to be.

But life doesn’t stop simply because you have a dream.

When Life and Purpose Collide

Some days, I am a daughter and caregiver before I am anything else.

There are appointments to manage, responsibilities to handle, difficult decisions to make, and moments when my heart feels stretched in a hundred different directions.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, there is still a woman with a dream.

A woman who wants to study for the LSAT, walk through the doors of law school, and one day hear her name called as she receives her law degree.

A woman who refuses to believe that her age, circumstances, or setbacks determine how her story ends.

But I would be less than truthful if I said balancing it all was easy.

There are evenings when I open my study materials and my mind is exhausted before I even begin. Days when caregiving requires every ounce of my attention. Moments when I wonder whether I am making enough progress.

And sometimes, the hardest part isn’t the work itself.

It’s trying to hold on to your dream while carrying the weight of everything else.

When Doubt Starts Whispering

Doubt has a way of showing up when you’re tired.

It whispers:

Maybe you waited too long.

Maybe you have too much going on.

Maybe this dream is bigger than what you can handle.

But I’ve learned something about doubt.

Just because a thought enters your mind doesn’t mean it deserves a place in your future.

I may be moving slower than I originally planned, but slow progress is still progress.

I may have to adjust my schedule, change my plans, and take unexpected detours, but that doesn’t mean I have to abandon my destination.

My circumstances may change my timeline, but they do not have to cancel my purpose.

Grace for the Difficult Days

One of the greatest lessons I’m learning in this season is that strength doesn’t always look like pushing harder.

Sometimes strength looks like resting without guilt.

Sometimes it looks like asking for help.

Sometimes it looks like opening a book for just thirty minutes instead of the two hours I planned.

And sometimes strength looks like getting on my knees and telling God, “Lord, I am tired, but I still trust You.”

I am learning that grace isn’t reserved for the days when everything goes right.

Grace is for the days when I fall behind, when tears come unexpectedly, when responsibilities become overwhelming, and when I have to remind myself why I started.

God has not promised me a journey without difficulty. But my faith reminds me that I don’t have to walk through those difficulties alone.

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” — Galatians 6:9 (KJV)

Becoming Doesn’t Stop When Life Gets Hard

I used to think progress meant constantly moving forward.

Now I’m learning that progress can look different in different seasons.

Sometimes it is a giant leap. Sometimes it is a small step. And sometimes it is simply refusing to quit.

At this stage of my life, I understand that becoming is about more than a career.

It’s about becoming stronger in my faith, more patient with myself, more intentional with my time, and more confident in the woman I am growing into.

I’m becoming while caring for family.

I’m becoming while studying.

I’m becoming while facing uncertainty.

I’m becoming on the days I feel unstoppable, and even on the days I feel completely overwhelmed.

Because becoming isn’t just about the destination. It’s about who I am becoming along the way.

A Promise to Myself

Today, I am making a promise.

I will not measure my journey against someone else’s timeline.

I will not allow a difficult season to convince me that my dream is impossible.

I will give myself permission to rest, but I will not give myself permission to give up.

I will celebrate the small victories, trust God through the delays, and remember that every step forward matters.

And on the days when the journey becomes hard, I will remind myself:

I didn’t come this far to abandon the woman I’m becoming.

My dream of becoming an attorney is still alive.

My faith is still standing.

And my story is still being written.

A Word for Someone Walking a Difficult Road

If you’re reading this and life has become heavier than you expected, I want you to remember something.

You are allowed to be tired and still be determined.

You are allowed to have difficult days and still have an extraordinary future.

You are allowed to take a different path without giving up on where you’re going.

Don’t confuse a delay with defeat.

Don’t let the difficulty of this season make you forget the promises you made to yourself.

Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep becoming.

Because sometimes the journey becomes hard right before you discover just how strong your faith, determination, and purpose have become.

And as for me?

I’m still becoming.

One prayer. One page. One step. One day at a time.

With faith and grace,
