When the Dream Starts Looking Like a Plan

There is something different about seeing the dream laid out in front of you.

The LSAT book.
The study planner.
The law school information.
The schedule.
The goal.

For years, becoming an attorney has been a dream in my heart. But I’m learning that dreams begin to change when you give them dates, deadlines, study hours, sacrifice, and consistency.

My June 2027 LSAT goal is no longer something I’m simply talking about. I have a plan in front of me, and now it’s time to work it.

Life hasn’t exactly cleared my calendar and said, “Okay Jacqueline, now you can focus on yourself.” There is still work. There is still family. There is still caregiving. There are still responsibilities and days when life demands more of me than I expected.

But somewhere along this journey, I realized something important:

I don’t have to wait for life to become perfectly quiet before I pursue what God placed in my heart.

So this binder means more to me than paper.

It represents discipline.

It represents choosing to study even when I’m tired.

It represents believing that where I am today is not where my story ends.

And that Wayne State Law information sitting beside my LSAT planner? That’s my reminder of what I’m working toward.

I know there will be difficult practice sections. There will probably be scores that frustrate me, questions that make me stare at the page like the LSAT and I have personal beef, and days when motivation is nowhere to be found.

But I’m not depending on motivation.

I’m building consistency.

Ten hours a week.
One study session at a time.
One question at a time.
One point at a time.

From now until June 2027, I’m giving myself permission to become the woman capable of reaching the goal—not overnight, but through the work I do repeatedly when nobody is watching.

This is more than LSAT preparation.

This is Becoming Attorney Cofield.

And today, the dream looks a little more like a plan.
