Becoming the Women I was Always Meant to Be

There was a time when I thought becoming was all about reaching a destination , finishing school, advancing in my career, getting into law school, and one day hearing the words “Attorney Cofield.”

But life has taught me that becoming is so much more than a title.

Becoming is about the women I am growing into along the way.

My Journey hasn’t followed a straight line. I have built a career, raised a family, experienced changes I never anticipated and stepped into the role of caregiver when my family needed me . There have been seasons when my own dreams had to share space with responsibilities that demanded my attention , my energy and sometimes nearly everything I had to give.

And yet, the dream remained.

I still want to become an attorney.

There are days when staying focused is difficult. Life changes . Plans go interrupted. responsibilities grow. And sometimes doubt quietly creeps in with questions like: Is it too late ? Can I really do this? Should I still be chasing this dream with everything else happening in my life ?

But every time I begin questioning the path, God has always nudged me forward.

Sometimes the nudge comes through an oppurtunity, Sometimes through a converaation, a scripture, an unexpected reminder, or simply that persistent feeling in my spirit that says, Keep going.

I’ve learned that God’d grace doesn’t always remove the difficult parts of the journey. Sometimes grace is what gives you the strength to keep moving through them.

So I am learning to give myself grace too.

Grace for the days when caregiving has to come first.

Grace for the moments when studying doesn’t go according to plan.

Grace when life changes the timeline.

Grace when I question myself.

And grace to begin again without believing that a delay means denial.

My career goals still matter. Law school still matters.

But the women arriving at the destination will be different from the woman who first dreamed about it.

She will understand sacrifice. She will understand advocacy in a deeply personal way. she will know what it means to care for someone while continuing to fight for her own future. She will have learned patience, resilience, faith, and the courage to keep showing up , even when life looks nothing like the plan she originally made.

Maybe that is what becoming really means.

Not waiting until everything is perfect to pursue your purpose, but trusting God enough to keep walking toward it while life is happening all around you .

I don’t know every turn this journey will take.

But I know the dream God placed in my heart is still there .

and whenever doubt tells me to stop, grace keeps nudging me toward destiny.

I am still growing

Still believing

Still dreaming.

Still becoming.

And Attorney Cofield is still loading….
