There are moments in life when everything shifts. For me one of those moments came when caregiving became more then something I did- but became part of who I am.
Caring for someone you love- changes the way you see time, responsibility , and even yourself. Some days require strength I didn’t know I had. Other days require patience, prayer, and simply putting one foot in front of the other.
Caregiving has taught me that love is not always expressed through huge gestures. Sometimes love looks like showing up, asking questions, keeping track of appointments, advocating when something doesn’t seem right, and making sure the person you love knows they are not facing life’s hardest moments alone.
At the same time I am still pursuing my own dreams. I am building my career, preparing for law school , and working toward becoming Attorney Cofield. Balancing those dreams with caregiving is not always easy, but I am learning that caring for my family does not mean giving up on myself.
This chapter of my life is teaching me that purpose can exist in more than one place at the same time. I can be a caregiver and still have dreams. I can show up for myself. The road may look different than I imagined, but I’m still moving forward one day , one prayer, and one step at a time.
