My Caregiving Journey

Caring for my father has become one of he most meaningful and challenging chapters of my life. I have learned to ask questions, speak up, keep records, navigate difficult decisions, and advocate when something does not seem right. In many ways, caregiving has strengthen the same qualities that are carrying me toward becoming Attorney Cofield- compassion, persistence, courage, and a determination to be the voice for others.

What Caregiving Has Taught Me

Caregiving has taught me that strength does not always look like having all the answers. Sometimes strength is asking another question, making another “phone call, speaking up” when something does not feel right, and simply being present. I have also learned that caregivers need care, grace and support too.

The Advocate Caregiving Made Me

Caregiving taught me that advocacy begins with paying attention I leaned to ask questions, document concerns, follow up, and keep speaking when answers were not clear. Advocating for someone you love can be exhausting but it also showed me the power of using my voice with purpose. Those experiences have strengthen my desire to understand the law and someday use that knowledge to advocate for others as Attorney Cofield.

Balancing Caregiving And My Dreams

Caregiving has required me to give so much of my time, energy, and heart , but I have also learned that caring for someone I love does not mean giving up on my own dreams. There are days when studying, working, family responsibilities and caregiving all complete for my attention . Still, I continue moving forward. My Journey may look different than I originally imagined, but every challenge has reminded me “why becoming Attorney Cofield means so much to me.”

To the Caregiver Reading This

If you are caring for someone you love, remember that your voice matters. Ask questions. Take notes. Speak up. Give yourself grace on the difficult days and celebrate the small victories. You may not always feel strong, but every time you show up with love, patience, and determination, you are making a difference. And while you care for others, don’t forget that your dreams still matter too.
